Welcome to KreiderArt Galleries of Pyrographic Art, an unusual collection of mixed media fine arts with wood and woodburning by David Kreider.

Pyrography, or woodburning, the foundation of David's art, is now rare among arts media, yet from his earliest encounters with it, it captured his interest like no other. "In the unique visual intricacies of this very common material", David writes, "I find a deep connection with nature and with the transcendent oneness of life, an intriguing aesthetic in its fabric that adds wonder, mystery and meaning to my art."

Over the years David has experimented with various techniques and technologies to push out his work with wood and burning, and they have led him to an unusual place and something one-of-a-kind. Yet it is the beautiful marriage, of his medium of wood to the subjects he portrays, those intriguing grains in his work that tease our imagination, that is for most viewers what is so enticing about his art. The rich flesh tones and deep earthy hues of burning work wonderfully with his portraiture and wildlife. The grains of fir, oak, and birch infused with color provide rich tonal underlays and exquisite parallels to the ethereal textures of air and sky, ripples in water, and the stratifications of landscape and terrain. And from these foundations his extrapolations in the world of electronic arts, where these materials and techniques are unbound from their elemental chemistries and limitations, take us to a new frontier in contemporary art.
